M319/increased fan speed must put more wear on fan clutches? The smaller fan pulley (86 vs. 106mm) was spec'd for delivery to hot climates or if M570/rear air was installed. I didn't know it was included with M470/spoiler delete?

I would swap in a 106mm pulley to make it quieter, put less stress on the clutch, and let the engine rev up faster.

Any thoughts on the grade of fluid - 10k v 50k.

My '85 has the small pulley as well. No rear A/C.

Fan refill attempt attempted and completed. Not tried yet, so standby for the results report.

Here's the activity report.

I snapped the ends off a couple fins removing the bimetallic strip.
It was unnecessary damage, had I known how it was attached.
Next time, I'll remove all silicon calk, then push one end of the strip into the fan more, then, slide the whole strip towards the side being pressed. The fins have a two-stage cutout that allows them to be inserted and removed without bending the strip or breaking a fin.

Used almost one Toyota container. Not sure if it would take more, was getting difficult.

Need some feedback on method. I used a ball fill needle with end cut off. Pressed against a springloaded internal stop during filling.

Spun fan a bit during fill. Got some back-pressure near the end of each syringe-full, air, pushing some fluid back out. Got most of it in, though.

Pictures.

Ambient is 81F today.
Ran the car for about 45 minutes, with a number of rolling full power accelerations from 20mph on into 4th gear. When slowing / stopping after these runs, the temp heads up to 1/2way between horizontal and last white mark, then starts to come down to horizontal on gauge or just below.

This is good. Prior to fan refill, same ambient temp, needle would just barely hit last white mark after running hard and not move downwards. So my refill with about 3/4 of one tube of 10000 Toyota silicon did make a difference.

I changed to the larger pulley also.

Will be checking again next week in 90+degF temps and report back. Now on to other missions.
