Default No turn signal or emergency flasher

The turn signal and emergency flasher does not work anymore. The dash light goes up when I flip the turn signal. The emergency swithch lights up when I push it down but no flash. Where do I add the blinker fluid?

Could it be # V relay? How do I test it?

I would guess relay, sorry I don't know the test. At least it's a cheap relay.

Thers is not much else but the relay that can go wrong here - do check the turn signal fuses are all good...

I just put in a new relay and check all 4 fuses. Still not working. When I was playing with the emergency switch pulling it out of the pod, I saw some sparks when the switch touch the pod hole. Did I fry something?

Is the emergency flasher switch on the same circuit as the turn signal switch? Could someone unplug their emergency flasher switch and see if the turn signal still works?

The turn signals won't wok with the Hazzard switch removed.

Perhaps you pulled the connector off the back of the switch?

Do the turn signals themselves light but not flash?

Also, do your brake lights work? (If not, the problem may be in the lamp monitoring module)

Is the cluster complaining about tail light or turn signal bulbs being out?

Yes, the flasher module (V) could be the problem, especially if things are lighting but not flashing. Looks like a pretty Bosch-specific flasher module: it uses a separate connector to feed the turn signal indicator light in the dash. However, you probably could hook in a standard 3-pin flasher module, at least to test: ground to 31, supply to 49, load to 49a. This should flash the turn signals themselves (but not the dash light) if the the problem is the flasher.

I don't see why, exactly, they have a separate output from the flasher module for the dash indicator. I would think it should work with a generic flasher if that pin was connected to 49a, but I'm not positive... maybe it's a lower voltage or something.

The turn signal does not light up or flash. No light on the emergency switch either.

The brake light works.

No bulb out warning light in the cluster.

I got a 3 pin flasher relay from a local parts store. It is slightly smaller and lighter but plugs in the same spot.

The emergency switch is plugged all the way in.

I got to get this fix before driving 2000 miles on SITM trip!

Just because the relay fits into the socket, does not mean that the pins are connecting to the correct connectors. Please verify the wiring as I mentioned before.

might be a good time to drop the CE panel and inspect the rear for burned or melted wires if you say you shorted one of the pod switches then thats where to start looking for the problem

The turn signals are not monitored - they do not go through the bulb control module.

jthwan22 - Swapping the stock flasher for an aftermarket version may well work... but I'd strongly suggest not to do it when you are trying to determine whats wrong with your system... its quite pointless - you don't know if would have worked anyway...

Check the fuses by taking them out and testing them with a DMM. Did you remove the pod/steering wheel and combination switch?

The pod down to the insturment panel was out when I fix the pod crack and put in LED bulbs. I also lost the D light out of PRDN32. I am not too worry about the D light and I didn't get to PRDN32 bulbs with LED because they were burried under another CB. I guess I should go back to see if 2 big plugs and one little white plug are in the combination turn signal switch. I am pretty sure it is plug in.

I hate it when I fix 1 thing and break 2.

I got used emergency switch, turn signal and another flasher relay. I only had to replace the emergency switch and now everything works. Go figure.
