Default 85 to 86 32v Ignition Wire Sets - Alternative??

With the Beru (OEM) set of wires becoming harder and harder to find I have been trying to establish if the 87 to 95 set will fit.
The caps and rotors are the same. The coils are the same as the 87 & 88 cars.
The layout of the wires relative to the cam covers and the front of the engine is the same.
I have measured the difference in the wire lengths and apart from two wires they are the same. On the two that are different the later set is longer so that should not be an issue either.

Anyone know any other differences that I am missing?
Appreciate your help.
Roger

As you noted, 2 wires are shorter on the 85/86 set.

So yes they do work.

But the ends for the coils changed iirc in 89.

I would be very interested in finding a Bosch set.
09265 is not recognised as a valid number but does cross reference to the Beru set. The Beru set sells for about $400. The 87 to 95 Beru set sells for $300 so a big difference.

Colin,
The 87 to 95 set comes with two sets of coil wires to cover both types of coils.

If your Bosh wires are working out ok that's awesome. I'm never ordering another set from BOSCH and I tried three different times over the past two years to give them "another chance".

The spark plug ends are garbage (compared to the Beru) and the distributor side either the terminals were not properly crimped or not crimpled at all - ON ALL THREE!!!!!
On one set, two terminals were totally missing.

Bosch quality isn't what it use to be.

Are we still talking about 85 to 86 32v wire sets or are the Bosch sets for earlier years???

The link I put above is for 85-86 and they apparently have a lifetime warranty on them.

FWIW, Bosch looks like different technology, resistance in wire instead of boots.

Roger, any thought to offering the sparkplug wires with M3 connectors and no ends, and we re-use existing ends?

OK now I know what you are refering to.
There are a number of economy sets available and the Bosch set falls into that catagory.
Nothing wrong with that.

I am looking to supply a direct equivilant with all the spacers and Beru hardware.

My three sets were 16V, my friend wasn't much happier with his 32V set either.

When I saw "Made In China" on the spark plug end for Bosch and "Made In German" on the Beru sets........that explained everything.

Lifetime warranty doesn't mean squat when you are on the dyno paying $100 per hour and trace your igniton miss to a defective plug wire(s)

I already offer the wires only - Beru in black or red with the correct male ends so you reuse your existing caps at both ends. $119.

That's the way to go - once you have a good set of plug ends, why toss them out? Just check with an OHM meter to make sure they are within the spec range.

Rog,
I have a local company make them for me.
They are 8mm leads very good quality.
If you would like to start supplying give me a call.
They are non resistor leads FYI availible in red or black.
