Default New freeze switch dies after only 2 years?

So yesterday I was driving the 928 and the A/C stops blowing cold. That's ok, it's my favorite part of the car to troubleshoot. When I got back home, I started:

- Disconnected clutch wire, applied 12V directly to wire with car running, compressor runs and A/C blows cold.
- Measure voltage on the car's harness side of clutch connector: 12V
- Plug clutch wire back in, measure voltage: 43mV

That's not right, so then:

- Disconnect low-pressure switch and jumper, still 43mV at clutch wire
- Disconnect freeze switch and jumper, 12V at clutch wire and compressor runs

WTF? I replaced the freeze switch on this car 2 years ago with a brand new one. Anyone else run into a crap quality freeze switch like this?

At least I learned something new today. Power to the clutch from the A/C head unit (via freeze switch and then low-pressure switch) is from a violet/yellow wire, pin number 6 on the 15-pin connector
