With the known issues of the viscous fan clutch fluid leakage, and the expense/impracticality of refilling the fluid; is there a bolt in alternative fan yet?

for the sub $20 that the supplies (oil) will cost you I would be supprised if there will be a less expensive alternative than refilling your original fan clutch. for practicality, there are numberous post with details on the refilling process, which is not very technically dificult. I refilled mine and it has been working great. I used the instructions HERE. I found the process very straight forward and relatively easy to perform. If anyone else knows of other alternatives I will leave it to them to post, but I wouldn't be scared of refilling yours.

It is great that there is a process to refill the fan coupling. I did this with one of mine, but still had issue with the fluid leaking out past the seal that had become brittle and no longer sealed as it should. Seems pointless to add fluid if it is just going to leak out again. If we can find a source for new seals that would be sweet.

I also refilled mine, and it leaked out failry quickly. I then adapted a LandRover viscous and larger fan (more blades), which worked OK for a few years, until I went electric (2 x 11" SPAL in one shroud.
In case its any use to anybody who really wants to keep a viscous running, heres how I did it . Find an economic unit (viscous + fan) of suitable size that is fitted to a water pump via a LH threaded boss; get a dead water pump off the relevant car, machine off the lh threaded boss, or press it off the pump shaft; pull the original viscous off the Porsche shaft (it runs on a bearing inside the viscous) and adapt the new boss to press fit onto the shaft. There were also 2 different size of pulley on the fan shaft, the smaller one giving higher fan speeds.
