What tools would you include in a 928 travel kit?
Title says it all.
I am going to put together a tool and spare kit for my 87.
I have a foam lined aluminum four pistol case, a two gun one and a single gun one.
I think I will end up using the four gun one for tools and the single gun for a spare LH and a few relays.
I know I need a set of 1/4 inch, short and deep six point sockets, various extensions, and a extra long Snap-On swivel ratchet, same for the 3/8 drive.
Various wrenches.
Does any body have a list of sizes that are not used on a 928?
No need to bring things that are not needed.
A couple of pair of pliers, screwdrivers, good DVOM, wiring diagram (hard copy), a copy of the repair info on a thumb drive.
A tire plug kit, and a couple of bottles of fix a flat.
I keep plenty of flashlights in my car, so my flashlight fetish has that covered.
The plan is to make a secure mounting place for a couple of hard cases when I do my rear seat delete at some point in the future.
This will be just for emergency road side repairs that may crop up on my car, or another 928.
I am not trying to bring my shop with me, just a few tools that I hope are never needed.
ANY input will be helpful.

I always over pack for a road trip, but end up forgetting one item I will need.
Sockets 8,10,13,14,17,19, in 1/4 and 3/8. 27mm in 1/2
8 and 10 mm nut drivers
Breaker bar
Set of gear wrenches
3 sizes of both types screw drivers.
Pry bar
If going on a long trip in a convoy, I end up taking my small aluminum jack and small jack stands.
Box cutter and some silicone tape.
Test light.
small and large flash light.
Jumper wires and a couple of 53 relays
I'm sure there is more but I forget.

I will throw in a couple of reducers and bring my long 1/2 inch swivel ratchet, that will double as a breaker bar, is 27 the size of the crank bolt?
Thanks Sean

I don't have a spare tire and this fits perfect in the spare tire well:

The bottom tray is all open, I toss in some other misc tools like an extra long, super thin Snap On screw driver that reaches all of those PIA hose clamps.

Extendable magnet
Long handled needlenose pliers with about a 30 deg bend near the tip
Very long thin flathead screwdriver
6mm socket, 6 & 7 mm open end wrench
DVM, wire, some assorted crimp terminals
Deep 19 on a craftsman beam-type torque wrench (lugnuts and suspension stuff)
Vice grips and a hammer
LED point light on a 18'' flexible metal snake to shove down under the intake and backlight it.
Some odd sizes I've run into, not sure it matters on a trip kit.
15 on oil pan drain.
15 wrench on some fuel system nuts.
11 wrench for hot post, 11 deep for door switches.

I do not have a spare either, but right now that space is filled with amps and crossovers until I do the rear seat delete, at that point I will put the spare back in.
I have a set of Wurth flex nutdrivers for the hose clamps, they are great for just about all of them except for the ones for the MAF, I guess I need to include a swivel for them.
Still going to make SITM?
My fix by SITM list is still waiting on me.
Keep em coming guys.

If your going to include 1/4in drive sockets then you should have 6,7,8,10, 11,13 and a handfull of zipties.
6 socket for some of the hose clamps
7 some of the hose clamps and MAF clamps
8 lots of those around
10 aircleaner and fan shroud
11 deep/ and short for the hot post and possibly a brake bleeder
13 deep/ short, lots of these

Maybe a pair of flair wrenches for the fuel lines.

Okay, so at this pont we have 200 lbs of tools!
What failures are most common and show stoppers without the right widget? Seems the relay jumpers are essential!

The spare LH is a great idea. There have been a couple of occasions that I wished I had one. I don't have a spare LH but I think I may borrow one from a car left home for long trips from now on. I do have a spare fuel pump packed in my travel tool kit.

Well, some folks just have the Fonzarell gift, I need tools to fix things on cars.
But cash and a cell phone are a given, some things can not be repaired on the side of the road.
That being said, I have not been stranded in a very long time, like over 20 years.
I took a lot of tools last year to SITM, I got lucky i did not need any after a three year restoration and a 20 mile test drive before we left.
I make it a point to never go so far away from my shop that I can not afford the tow bill, on the spot, in cash or ammo.
