COMPLETED WATER BRIDGE/THERMOSTAT!!!
A minor PITA but not so bad. I was lucky...very lucky, everything came apart the way it's suposed to and reassembled properly. There was one serious glitch though... the wire connector behind the "diagnostic port" to the passenger side, male end turned to dust. This wire went from here to the throttle body? I had to pull the oil fill neck to get to the other end, but was super lucky to have another of these wires from a second motor. I had to disassemble a few things I would ordinarily not have to but I survived. Roger was fantastic as usual, he made sure I had all the proper bits, they all fit. Thanks to AADDPP and Goodspeed 928, and Dwayne's writeup in the DIY section helped a crapton, even if his is not the same year. Everyone of his tutorials rocks, for a clueless sort like myself theyare magic! One thing I would add to the mix... the lower rubber gasket beneath the thermostat, be sure to replace it. More important, make sure you get all of the old one out. I didn't realize at first that this gasket is a metalic 'ring' coated with rubber. I fastidiously cleaned all the rubber but the new seal didn't fit. On closer inspection I realised the inner metal component.Quick work with a Dremel tool and a screw driver and it popped out. So far in the year I've owned this sweet ride I've done some of the big jobs: OIL PAN GASKET, MOTOR MOUNTS, AC PUMP REPLACEMENT, SUSPENSION, AND NOW WATER BRIDGE! I'm ready for the H2O Pump/ Porkensioner/TB, or Torque Tube rebuild! When I bought the car I was clueless, now I feel a bit more capable(maybe even competant?). Thank you to all RENNLISTER'S this site is epic, I would not have even tried most of the service I've done if not for you all. THANK YOU ALL, Brian
