Unhappy locked keys in car

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am a new user to this site. I just bought a 928S 1980. I have been working on it all winter long. It now runs and drives. But I did a dumb thing as locking my key inside the car. Any Ideas on how to get in the car. I had a guy try a jimmy stick with no luck. Is there any thing else I can try orther then having a lock smith come out:

here is the answer - don't break windows or cut thru the floor. There is a simple tool and you are in and out: http://www.pro-lok.com/p-62-ao17-porsche-928-tool.aspx
or this: http://www.nextgentool.com/store/pro...61575404c78cab

You will ruin the door or window if you try this. Plus, if the car is off, the window switch won't work. See the links above.

The old rlist thread linked above should be added to the faq sticky; these cars were designed so as to be very hard to steal.

Per the thread linked above, Bill Ball did it with a bit of an old coathanger.

See this post in particular:

I'd love to try Bill's coathanger trick just out of curiosity. Also good party trick at 928 meets (my last such trick was popping hood from underneath - my release cable broke once and till I fitted replacement I got pretty fast at the hood trick).

Anyway S2 owning friend locked his keys in. He called the shop who normally work on his car, they said to cut and remove the RHS rear quarter seal, and the window just fell out. Cost him a new seal but I was interested in old post from Roger Tyson who claimed replacement glass is cheaper than the seal!

It´s a known problem with the old 928 S. The locks in the doors have a dead point and then you close the doors hard the lock close sometimes from alone over this point.
First rule is every time you´re not at home take the keys out of the car !
The rear quarter window is the easiest way to open the car.

Rear quarter glass is cheapest to replace, but I think I would prefer a new seal to new glass if I didn't already have a new seal. I wonder if some creative muscle, a few big suction cups and lots of soapy water worked around the seal would pop the quarter window out with it and seal both intact?

Main point I get is don't call a locksmith and regardless of what they say let them do as they please. Maybe ask if they have the A017 window vent tool?

A replacement quarter glass is much cheaper than a new seal. Quarter galsses are dime a dozen, so they are cheap but the weather stripping isn't but it will make one hell of a mess when you pop one.

Why on earth break anything? Most locksmiths have the tool or something close to it that I posted above. It's simple chaep and quick. Or better yet, just make it yourself out of a coathanger, or buy it.

There is also a rubber plug behind the drivers seat that can be pushed in.
