That's too funny, Greg. How about a quick change hub, like on a bicycle?

Seriously Don, Take BradW up on his offer. I would be more than willing to help also.

Or...for a few more bucks, one could just buy the correct mount, from Porsche

Jen doesn't charge me anything when she uses the ultrasound on me. Turns out I'm liquid filled.

Well I for one am extremely happy with my non-Porsche motor mounts, huge difference in the way the car feels. We'll see how they hold up, but I'm betting they will be fine for years.

Really appreciate the offer Brad and John, but now that I have the same lift as Brad, I'm really itching to get some use out of it. Without any oil pan work, and with the engine lift stuff already built and ready to go, and air tools of course, it just doesn't seem like it should take more than a couple of hours to swap them out.

Don--

Do you have the tall jack/support thingies yet? IIRC I saw a pair of them at Brad's place. They hold the crossmember up fo disassemnbly/reassembly. Like http://www.harborfreight.com/3-4-qua...and-92258.html or http://www.harborfreight.com/2-ton-c...and-41860.html

No, don't have anything like that ....yet... Thanks for the tip, there's a Harbor Freight just down the road from me. Of course you have to be careful to lift too much on the front or back on a 2 post lift, but that would be real handy to hold the cross member in place. Also need one of those rolling oil catches.

I's a slippery slope. Just need a couple of these and couple of those and some of... Pretty soon you've duplicated all your undercar tools, but the new ones are a bit taller. And ypou'll be looking for space to put those things when they aren't under the car working. Space, The Final Frontier....

On tbe care in lifting subject, you are spot-on. I think I made a comment in your original lift thread where you talked about th factory lift pads so close together. For the crossmember I was just thinking that you'll need to hold it up, and that's just the weight of the crossmember itself. Of course then the rack has to be held up along with the bottom plate. Just don't over-do itand you'll be fine. If you have doubts about any of this, just add a second support at the other end of the car to keep it from tilting.

I just worked on a 93 GTS 5 speed, 14,000 original KM. Origonal mounts were dead and had been for some time. By your logic they should have lasted another 3 years.....

Funny how you tend to end up with two or more of every thing.

Honestly, the only undercar tools I do not NEED two of are the under lift drain pans.

Lets talk about something different than space though.
