Default Rear wheel bearing suppliers.

I'm replacing the rear wheel bearings on my 84. After the outrageous price the parts store quoted I figured I'd have a look online first. They wanted $140 a bearing. Just looking on ebay I can see many bearings with the double race that look about the same size as the ones for the 928. Most are for 911's. I haven't been able to find a single specification on the bearing, and don't have mine out yet to measure.

I think the numbers for the 928 are
999 053 050 00
999 053 055 02
SKF: W0133-1778461

Are their any higher quality, industrial application bearings that would fit? What other cars use the exact same wheel bearing that wouldn't have the P word on the box?

A quick web search I did always put Porsche with the SKF number, so I think its a special for Porsche only, so your choice is limited to one item......

993 uses same bearings AFAIK. SKF might have stopped making them recently but there are other manufacturers. Just don't know any numbers off-hand.

I saw supposedly-correct bearings while searching for something else. Prices just barely less than 928 international prices. Get your list together for everything you'll need, and get it all at once from 928 International. You know for sure the bearings are correct, plus the new correct bolts and the replacement parking shoe pins will make at least the job go faster. Keep your 928 parts vendors alive and happy if you can. Please.

Yep...support the local 928 suppliers! If we don't...who will? I got mine from Roger at 928's R US...around $90 I THINK! Haven't seen a bill yet.

SKF is the supplier to Porsche - I have both OE and Porsche here.
Part number is 999 053 055 02.
SKF is BAHB636161C

Porsche = $108.55
SKF = $104
Prices for 928sRus.

NTN is another OEM supplier

This is not a job you want to do twice trust me. Get the right part and it will last another 25+ years! I wouldn't trust anything on ebay. Roger and 928 intl are top notch.
