Default GT3 taps the wall at the trck Sat

This guy let his buddy do a few laps in his GT3 he had bought 3 week ago......

Comes of the corner sideways, corrected, over corrected, then taps the wall......

Didn't look so bad at first, but the passenger side had this odd large bend in it between the door and the wheel well....?

hhhmmmm, bent frame?

took mine to the track a few times. thing is a whale of a beast, another animal that will scare your nuts off if you are not experienced.. you dont let your buddy just take that thing out for a lap or two unless he knows what the heck he's doing...
no cage, no harness.
dudes are lucky they didnt kill themselves . that thing is an acme rocket. you take that on the track, you better load for bear.

Loaning out a performance car is a lot like loaning out your girlfriend. Might or might not come back looking the same, and you have to plan on the internals needing attention.

That little rub on the all could have been a whole lot worse. Some folks got lucky there, all things considered. Hello, Allstate?

OUCH...but it could be worse!! I saw a 997 GT3 ROLL at Thunderhill in turn 8!!!!!!!!!!!!! It went end over end about 4 times....driver was okay...a bit shook up but "fine" (as much as you can be after destroying a $100k car)

I had an interesting conversation with a PCA guy about the DE's they host...they have what they call "GT3" syndrome....where a new to track driving GT3 owner shows up with his new toy....an promptly drives like a jerk, scares all the instructors and gets sent home....which is still better than hitting the wall!

LOL!!! That is GREAT!!! Love it Dr. Bob! No wonder we get along so well, same sick sense of humor!

In the pic, look how deranged that left rear wheel is... I see the end of a friendship over this one!

I always figure that you should only drive someone's car on the track if you are ready and able to write a check to cover any "Oh ****" ...... So I never drive other peoples cars I had a student with a GT3 ...great car awesome performance several months later he went 4 wheeling at the Street of Willow...did $40,000 damage.

I think it was last year at Mostport, same thing happened to and I think it was also a GT3. The car was a total loss but the owner did not ask the driver to pay anything. As far as I know, insurance didn't cover it either!!!!

Yeah, I've seen more expensive cars wadded up worse.

Sometimes insurance will cover you but the measure I always suggest is to not go on the track unless your willing to walk awya from it, or pay what it takes to fix it.

Correct many insurance companies do not cover timed track events for obvious reasons. A few still manage to maintain coverage as a educational event/ driving school.....Some have towed the car to a public highway and staged a crash ! Basically anytime you track a car you need to be prepared to total it and be O K with that....other wise never track it !

Imre,

If your talking about the orange GT3 RS that hit the wall at Mosport, I saw damage first-hand at Bestline as they put it back together. From what I heard, it was an instructor that did the dirty deed. He didn't have any assets that the owner of the car could go after, so the rebuild cost came out of his pocket.

The "timed" clause is pretty much gone nowadays. It used to be DE's with no clock may get you a pass. I think most auto policies will exclude damage from ANY event held on a race track. I think you need to look at DE insurance as a seperate policy these days.

I can only be mad at myself if I write mine off. And I am not what one would call a passive driver.

Yes james you are correct. The left wheel was very outta shape when you looked at the line down the side.
