thx John............it looks as if the intake will have to come off.
I truly dont understand why it cures itself of stumbling when it warms; one would assume that a vac leak would exist in all engine conditions but we could discuss this to infinitim.

Hi Malcom - I tested out my Temp2 as well and found it in spec too but when I tood apart the very rigid and cracked plug boot, I found both wires were stripped from years of being bent over to reach the Temp2 switch and touching. I got a replacement AMP Junior Timer female2 pole plug (for others' ref) and reattached.
I had to cut/reattached of course but that fixed my stubmling idle. I did learn in the process to really make sure the new prongs click and seat on install as I had one migrating out. My suggestion for others doing this repair/update is to have the rubber boot pulled back to make sure things are seated then slide it on the plug. YMMV
