Default RDK sensors removal.

Hi.
I bought a new Design 90 set of rims with RDK sensors in it.
I now have flat discs also with RDK.
I intent to refurbish the design 90 rims but I'm not sure the RDK sensors are working. I presume they are but if one fails is it possible to remove one from my flat discs and place this one in my design 90 rim ?
Need a special tool ?
Delicate ?
Need to replace set of 2 (pair) instead of only one in case of failure ?

Tires are already removed from Design 90 rims so I can't test them.

Thanks.
Paul

OK, I heard these sensors were very delicate.
We'll see when my rims are refurbished and are under the canon!

Thanks.

Is it possible that what you heard was that the sensors are sensitive? They are very sensitive to fluctuations in air pressure and you really need to have the pressures set right.

Failures don't seem to be common from what I've seen posted here.

Yes, you will need special tools to remove them. About $200 or $250 for the tools as I recall. They SHOULD be removed before refinishing the wheels!

When put back on you will need new "nuts" and gaskets. BTDT!

The sensor seals are more problematic than the sensors.

I gave instructions to the guy who refurbishes the wheels to be carefull with the sensors. For what I've seen the sensors can be protected by some 3M tape or cardboard + 3M tape. Not sure if the inner part is sanded by machine or hand...

It will take several weeks I think before the new setup is under my car. When it's finished I'll post some pictures and let you know if the sensors survived the operation.

Thanks!
Paul
