Met with Travis 954-445-6437 from the 944 group with his buds at O'Reiley's Pub for a few; 2 of them are in need of 928, 5 speed gearbox parts, maybe someone here can help with the supply.

wills928:
Stick or automatic?
Contact by PM Earl Gilstrom, Gary Knox, Mason Fine (surfridermason), or me. all in the Phila. area. If it's leaking on the side of the trans, it shouldn't be anything major. If it's an auto and it's leaking from the bottom of the torque converter housing, it may be a bad front seal or torque converter bearings which means the trans will have to come out to fix it. If you can live with it, leave it alone and monitor the fluid level. Do a search for "trans fluid level" and "transmission leaks" for more info. I have an '84 that used to leak in reverse. I think it was overfilled by the PO. It leaked til it reached it's "comfort level". The level is a little low, but there is no slipping and it shifts well. YMMV. Good luck with the new car!

Joe

<<just picked up a 84 928 and it runs well i just noticed a 'apparent' trans leak while putting back in garage, previous owner inherited car and did not drive for 2yrs, bought new battery ,put new sparks plugs in then check idle , smoke for about a min or two, then purrs, now in a little worried about this trans oil issue, its dripping on a little housing near rear as best i can see, any help with my new toy i would appreciate(im in philly if there are any side helpers) as i am trying to maintain this with knowlegde and little money)lol>>

Hey everyone. This was my first Porsche Swap Meet. I was outdone. I have never seen so many Porsches in one place in my life. Lots of BEEYOOTEEFUL cars.

It was great to see other members of the 928 family, Wayne, Wayne, Fraggle, Glenn, Bob, Duane, and many others. Too bad we didn't get a common 928 area like the 968s did. They were deep (at least 15) all parked together.

Let's plan something for Sunday. The MD U Meet is on Sunday as well as the Deutsch Marque concours. Maybe we can meet, go to the concours and then parade to the MD U mega meet. If we arrive together, we'll have a better chance of parking together. I've been there the last 4 years (2 with the 928). we never have too many numbers there. Let's represent! Thoughts everyone?

I will post my swap meet pics when I get them back from CVS. I had a disposable camera (don't laugh) and a video camera.

It was good to see you again David. Glad to hear that your sales were good. Hope to see you and your beautiful car again soon.

I don't mean to revive a dead thread, but I was at the Swap Meet on Saturday with my wife. We drove out for the day from South Jersey in Jake, the 944 Turbo and had a great time milling around. I'm a sucker for early 911s and there were some gorgeous examples on hand. There was also a very nice 928 from Ohio on the sale row that caught my wife's eye, and if it had still been there when we made our second pass through that part of the meet a couple hours later, she would have called her credit union and driven it home.

The upshot is that I pledged to her that the '79 928 that's been languishing in the garage for two years (since I left for the 'Stan in early '08) will go the the swap meet next year, either under his own power or on a trailer with a 'For Sale' sign.

I'm hoping to make some acquaintances on this board and to shake some hands next year at Hershey!

Dead threads can be revived anytime. re sale of 928, You might also consider Sharks in the Mts. It's a bit of a drive perhaps, but 100% of the people there are sharkaholics.

Woops, I wasn't clear: if Moby goes to the swap meet under his own power, he'll be coming home the same way when it's over.
