Moding should never be a sin. as long as you keep the soul of the car and design intact. even stuffing a muscle car V8 in it is not sacrilege in my book

Well -- there goes your 51/49 weight balance.

I never was against mods, but when that little WRX left me behind, I really, really, REALLY wished I had another 100 horses stuffed under the hood.

Seriously though, as long as the mods keep the character of the car intact, I'm all for it. I'm not a big fan of SBC transplants in a 928, mainly because you can get equivalent levels of power for less heartache in most 928s by adding a blower.

And for far less $$.

Now some mods are great on some cars, take this one a friend of mine just did.

You take one Geo Tracker + a 468 and some parts you have laying around, a year of work and it is something you just do not see every day.
This was the first day on the road, so he is not done yet, but gives a idea of where he is going with it.

The Geo Purists hate it.

Oh, I've seen a few, even those started by our now venerated Porken that were absolutely venomous!

You may be right there. It's hard for people to accept change and for some to even imagine anything but what they see already. For me? I think even a bad mod can have it's good points. Maybe you can see what's wrong with it and do it better? Maybe you can see what the goal was but the execution was wrong or just not your taste? Maybe it was a really bad idea that sounded good on paper so now you don't have to chase that idea any more...

Greg - That Tracker looks like a ton of fun

In the early 90's when I had a work project on the big island in Hawai'i, I preferred renting the Geo Trackers to get around. Very much a "tin can" but it was great for getting around the island and a little less tourista than the convertable "what-evers".

Enjoy--- and to heck with those Geo purists

This thing even goes straight.

He does really good work, a couple of years ago he put a AC set up in his 55 Chevy and I was charging it for him, I asked "Is this a Vintage Air system?" he said "No, it wont fit".

After talking to him for a bit to find out WTF he was talking about, he had moved the firewall back and I could not tell it had been moved, even after he told me.

Wow, that Geo could win the contest of who can roll the most number of times Combine that power with the ground clearance/center of gravity, track, wheelbase and total weight... I would be scared to drive it.

Yep, it would turn turtle in a heart beat, but given the chance you would do the same thing I did, light em up baby.

Holy torque Greg!

I have always modded every car I have owned. I do it because I love to, no other reason. It is just a passion. I MUST MOD!

My 928 will never stray far from home. Eventually forged bottom end, heads done up nice and some boost. Nothing crazy but when she is done she will be what I want, not what someone thinks I should have.

When modding a car you should do it your way because when you are done with it , it's yours!

This forum is great! I love it. I went back to my old forum, SCCOA Super coupe club of America. Asked a question in regards to a camshaft profile working with the MPX blower. A MPX blower made 497rwhp on a 3.8L! Got snubbed by people that always talked to me and people I hung with and now that I have a 928 they won't give me the time of day! What's up with that.

I am sure if I had a different car and wanted to put a 928 in it and had some technical questions people here would help! The bottom line is we love cars!

I am thinking of puting a MPX supercharger on a 4.5L which is a beefed up model of the M90 eaton blower just much more efficent and the sound of one under boost is AWESOME! Looked for some help over there as they are the experts, but I got no love. Oh well, I really don't need to know yet as I still have so much to do before I am there!

You guy's are the best and look forward to meeting everyone at Sharks in the Mountain!

My first 928 was a 86.0 and was going keep it all stock.
That lasted 2 mo.
My new 90 lasted 5 min.
