I have no idea...I'm not a 928 mechanic
Seriously...the dealership bought them but nobody could tell me why or where they went (pretty sure they were fan belts because neither was a timing belt). These are the same guys who swore up and down that the car passed their extensive pre-sales inspection. My bad for not getting a PPI done.
Thank God for Mrmerlin and the guys of the Rocky Mountain Sharks.

if you have an unmolested car it will usually have a spare alternator belt with Porsche written on it, and there is a metal tag usually attached to it as well.
its kept in the spare tire well along with the spare, the plastic bag and gloves for putting the flat tire in and the warning stand that you use to warn other drives of a disabled vehicle

Hey Nick,
I guess if 99 people walk by and slap you in the face, you will probably believe that the next person will as well.
But then you might want to start asking yourself why all those people have slapped you in the face.
I started reading this thread thinking that it would offer some real advice. It turned into a pissing match with one person doing all the pissing and everyone else trying to get him to put his Richard away and stick to this being an advice thread.
OK. Back to the regularly scheduled and original thread topic:
Ask the mechanic a few key questions about the 928 that could only be answered by someone familiar with a 928. Ask point specific questions about the area in question that you would definitely know the answer to. Advice here is golden but we are talking about finding someone with hands on skill. Again, the advice thing here is golden and this forum is a good place to start looking. By looking I mean to ask and not lambast.
There is a wonderful and knowledgeable team of mechanics familiar with most everything the average shop shirks away from (Italian, French, Swedish, German...)
Integrity Auto on Route 100 about 5 miles north of I78 in Pennsylvania. Mark Benson is the owner and his team comprised of Chris and Abby are the best.
