Flywheel Pins
Can someone please explain exactly what function the flywheel pins serve?
The Manual suggests they are part of the oil temperature sensor but I fail to see how they would function. I thought they were balance weights!!
I have unfortunately broken one off so was considering drilling it out and then inserting a threaded rod all the way through the pin to screw into a tapped hole in the flywheel.
Can anyone confirm if this is a feasible option, or is it ok to run with just one pin?
Car is a Euro 16V auto if that helps any.
Thanks
Jay

Not the same- Three 5-speed pins are spread equally around the flywheel/PP 120o apart. 2 narrow ones of equal diameter and a thicker, stepped one.

EDIT:
I looked back and found the pics of my clutch job. You're right, they are not the same pins. The ones for the clutch/PP are on the flywheel, the autos and 5-speeds all seem to have these pins.

Am almost certain they correspond to the TDC sensor that we don't utilze - test connection.
The front-most sensor is CPS, rear one is TDC. Try looking at manual page 28-40,41,42 describing ignition

It *may* cause the unit to be slightly unbalanced. As such you may feel a vibration - and maybe only at some specific RPMs. But I'm with Colin. If it were my car, I'd say ***** it.
