We listen to the Vortech with a stethoscope and it sure sounded pretty good me. Externally there is a little whistle, but I think it’s less noisy than before… and certainly less noisy than when we were in Knoxville.

At idle it’s rock solid just like before, but still seems to oscillate and/or maybe even miss a little when running up the RPMs with no load. Maybe driving it will smooth things out. The only things that haven’t been replaced or rebuilt are the coils, injectors, LH, and EZK. From the smell of the exhaust, we would say it certainly isn’t running too rich.

I should have my PEMS pretty soon and can start data logging to get a better idea what’s going on… for now, I’m going to enjoy it for a while.

1075 is the length mm, I believe the full part number is 8pk1075... I'd have to double check on the ribs

First drive tonight, it’s running pretty darn good… just not pushing it too much.

Initial impression is its very stealth down low. At the first couple stops signs in the neighborhood I had to check the tach to make sure it was running… sure thing… idling rock solid at 500 RPMs and almost eerily quiet.

Light load leaving the hood it still wanted to hunt a little, but not much. Then rolled on the throttle 2/3rds and its like wait for it 2.5K, wait for it 3K, then hello 3.5k, 4K, 5k, chirp 2nd (didn’t engage kick down switch)… pulling strong, then I lifted.

Entrance ramp, 1st gear, WOT, about the same at first then feel the power exponentially explode as the engine sings an awesome bwaaaaah right to 6k ish, bang second car wallows like a pig and spins more than a chirp (may need lsd), pulling good but have to back off for traffic. Felt like it lost power when I tried to get back in it. Scared me so I stop at the next exit, checked everything, sounded good including a stethoscope to the SC, water bridge at 200. All good so tried a 2nd gear 3k roll on the throttle and it really came alive…. Incredible throttle response north of 3.8K but it stinks a little (reckon it’s getting rich)

Stopped for gas and checked everything again. Looked, sounded, and smelled good. One last hard first and half second back onto the highway felt good so I decided not to push it. Temp on highway was just a pinch above level and warmest ever was an 1/8 below 2nd bar.

I think the Latvian tune up may have the eliminated the slight hunt as I slipped back into the neighborhood under the radar… still can’t get over how quiet it is a low speeds.
Anyhow, getting new tires in tomorrow, and maybe give her a much needed bath… pack a couple cases of beer and load up on supplies then go to Hell on Saturday. Can’t wait to see everyone and let some experts check out my work…. and oh yeah, help get that MF spring installed.

Definitely a good start… for now!

OOOPPPPSS!

I may have accidently done a huge burnout in front of Discount Tire this morning… It wasn’t a Bill Ball burnout, but I couldn’t believe the amount of smoke it made in such a short period of time!

The guy at the store asked if I had anything to do with all the smoke blowing by when I pulled into the parking lot. I chuckled and admitted my guilt.

For the record… I officially got almost 9K out of these rears, why do I think the next ones aren’t going to last as long?

Status update... I think this project is finally done!

Putting the spring on with a helper and a lever in the proper place was a piece of cake. That and AO burning an EZK chip from a Stage III tune (which is probably if anything a little conservative, but appears to be keeping the ignition in check) means this phase is finished.

Without all the extra cargo I was hauling in Hell, I can tell the car is really starting to come alive. I’m guessing there may be a hint more to gain with custom shark tuning and so much more to learn.
