I didn't bother looking at this 928 when it was last posted because of the line in the ad "Test drive only after accepted offer" . and out-of-line price. It has now returned with a bizarre transmission issue.

Anyone have a clue as to what is meant by "pushes fluid out"?

I actually have pics of the car they sent me if anyone is interested in a closer look. Some kind of strange restore job here...S4 bumper?

"Pushes out fluid" could be just the typical problem we all have when the car sits for a while, the fluid drains out of the torque converter, usually due to a leaking seal, and fills up the reservoir on the side of the trans and overflows onto the floor.

If they mean that they are losing fluid while running, then you might have a real $$ problem on your hands.

Are you really interested in this car? How much are they asking for it. I do see a number of issues just looking at these pictures, like missing front spoiler with trashed front end, S4 rear bumper not installed correctly and looks very wavy. Also the front seat doesn't look original. Wires hanging out from the drivers door and underneath the dash. Paint job looks cheap.

And that old guy in the car. What's up with that?

All depends on price and how much you are willing to put into it to fix it up.

1982 PORSCHE 928, Beautifully Restored, Almost $20,000 in receipts for rebuild & restoration! Needs minor work to finish. Fun to Drive!! A Real Head Turner! Selling for my retired Dad~Still stored in his garage~SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY~No trades~. $6500. Call for appointment. Runs Great, but after replacing trans lines it now pushes fluid out after a few miles~no time to fix~Must sell . REASONABLE offers considered.

*** Restoration rarely seems to mean the same thing to any two people, I'd want to know exactly what was done, and by who, especially since a basic tranny service seemed to have been done wrong.

thanks for posting the link..I thought I had done it. I'm not seriously considering this car but like to read the various opinions on mechanical/cosmetic issues. The original price back in January was 8k I could tell things were not fitting together right from the photos but lack hands on experience with 928s so though it was was worth posting for discussion.

the blocked out face is funny.

You could always part it out after you bought it.

cosmetically it's a disaster. Look at front hood at lip, also missing front spoiler, but most of all that horribly fitted rear cover on an old body style. Yikes! Much better examples out there.

the "test drive" line means he is short on patience, and not dealing well; he'll get pissed if you ask a question or offer anything less. IF the trans problem is the only problem, it's still chancy b/c of the obvious lack of attention to detail in the bumper(s). He spent all that money on the rear and couldn't afford a front spoiler??? He might have a steep drive and decided not to bother replacing it after he wasted the orig. You could call him, but I doubt it would have an amicable outcome, no matter how tactful you were.

$6500 is far too high......walk away.... A rebuilt tranny is $2500 plus installation

just from the pics I wouldn't give him anywhere near that money,
poor fitting body work, wires sticking out from the door, damage to rear console leather, half a pod cover, headliner appears somewhat warped
did he say there was also a tranny issue?

You can do much better for that kind of money.
