928 PPI inspection in Staten Island, NY?
Hello,
I'm about to purchase a 928 in Staten Island and wonder if there are any good shops to take the car to for PPI.
I know there are Manhattan Motorcars and Formula Motorsports here in NYC, but I wonder if there is anyting closer to SI. Or maybe there a better shop for 928s altogether?
Thank You!

Is it the red 87 S4 from California? Great looking car!

Thanks, I thought you might have some more to say about the car - car is originally from CA... Looks very nice, but I don't think there are any records available. Has an ABS problem apparently as light comes on start, but then goes away... Thats all that visual inspection gave me. Will definitely do a PPI (hopefully correcting the ABS while at it), still on a fence about carfax though - given how inaccurate it can get, I wonder if its worth spending on it at all.
Thanks!

Well, I'll be picking it up either tomorrow or on Friday. Couple of pics attached. VIN is WP0JB0924HS862057
Anyone here has any additional info on car?
Will take it for PPI (Manhattan Motorcars or Formula Motorsports - which one is better?), hopefully there are no problems with the car...

That's a nice looking car.
Someone I know has a 911 and swears by Formula Motor Sports. That said I have no idea what their level of experience is with the 928 - I will probably never know since I have found the 928 to be a relatively easy car to work on thanks to the materials available and the people on this forum - they are worth more than the car!!!
As far as ABS, goes I have been told that sometimes its a matter of just cleaning connectors / sensors - hopefully its that simple. In my case I found a broken ground wire due to the failure of a $20 bracket - broken during a brake service is my best guess. Regardless, I am replacing the bracket, wire harness, and speed sensor which should address the problem. I negotiated down for the anticipated cost associated with the ABS issue.
Best of Luck,
Dave

Congrats on the purchase MX22. It's been a long time since I've been on this forum. I felt compelled to post since you are in my neck of the woods. Do you live in Staten Island? Maybe this car is different, but the only 1987 928S4 I've ever seen on the island was at Dependable Auto Body. One of the bodyshop owners was trying to sell it back in Sept. I wonder if it is the same car.

I'm part time Staten Island, part time Brooklyn. The car is from Staten Island, but I didn't buy it at the shop. That said, the guy was a mechanic. Could be the same car?
Still have to do PPI on Monday - if no major problems found it stays with me, otherwise back to the seller.
