Engine quit while waiting at a trafic light...
Hello,
I need some help pin point the problem(s):
The car just came out of a 4 month storage. It was stored with a full tank along with fuel stabilizer. I had driven it for about 60 miles before the problem arose. It was running just fine, pulling hard and steady. Idle has been normal. The engine never quit before today. The car is maintained with great care and up to date on the recommended maintenance.
Today It was driven for 20 miles at 65 mi/h , everything was normal. I left the highway and stopped the car at a red light. After idling for a minute, it suddently quit. No hiccup, no sign, it just quit. I started it right away and it went back to life just like it never happened. I left it idling in my driveway for 2-3 minutes right after the event, everything is fine.
Any idea what it could be?
Thanks.

This could be caused by idle stabilizer valve - it sits under the intake, and might have gotten sticky during storage. It's possible that there was some additional demand on the alternator, and the valve was not able to adjust the idle.
Some people say you can spray a lubricant in one of the vacuum lines to get it going again, but if that doesn't help, the intake has to come out to replace it. In that case, you should also replace knock sensors, tps, and the old vacuum lines as a preventive measure.
Since it restarted right away, I would not stress about it until hit happens more frequently.

Michel.............as the car restarted right away I'd suspect the ISV also.
As noted its located under the intake but you can lubricate the valve by 'injecting' WD40 or like into one of the hoses located on the drivers side of the intake close to the throttle cable mechanisim.
I'll try to find a pic.

It looks like all Canadians went out of hibernation at the same time! Thank you all, Nicole included!

Not to go off topic but let us know if we can help with your project Bertrand.
Michel........have the engine running when applying the WD40 lube.............the engine might want to stall so a helper on the gas pedal is worthwhile

I am no expert at that job and following Dwayne's and 928 International's procedures. It is quite sure I'll have some questions to you guys at some time!
Good chance you are all there!
Now back to Michel's topic.

Engine was not running while applying WD-40. I'll start her up coming back from work this afternoon and give it a second shot.
Thanks Malcom!
Bertrand, I did the TB job myself in last October. It took me roughly 18 hours. Let me know if you need anything from me. I have the tensionning tool and the crank locking tool if you need them. I'm in Boisbriand. Just PM...

Let us know when it happend again.
Trying to track this becasue it "happened once" and now its running, well that kinda like trying to find wonder womans jet.
Been in storage.. There is your first problem, although this sounds really good to yoru buddies that you are the big shot with the "exotic car" that needs stored for the winter. This is one of the worst things you could do to this car.
Your issue could have been anything from something passing through the fuel system to a moisture burning off in the coil.
Need more info.
welcome to the forum!

Storage of sport cars is just a fact of life in Canada............I can barely drive my 4x4 truck some days when temps are LESS than -30c and snow drifts meters deep.
Michel, here's the pic I promised. Disconnect the hose thats arrowed and spray in the WD40 with the engine running:
