Default HB Steam Cleaner

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=8823

What'cha think? I'm tempted to get the underside of my car cleaned up finally. I have never done steam cleaning before and am afraid of fowling anything electrical under the hood, or even attached to the body. Anyone have experience on steam cleaning?

I also notice this one doesn't get too hot. Only 183.5 degrees. I wonder if that's enough to take grease of if I hit it with Simple Green and let it sit a while before steaming.

The idea behind the steamer is it doesn't require any chemicals other than the ones you want to remove. So adding chemicals to the process kind of defeats the reason for using steam.

My current project is putting together a car wash system for my garage. It's a 1-1/2 gallon per minute pressure washer with a deionized water filtration system for the final rinse, plus a wall mounted garage vacuum.

The McCulloch# MC1275 is rated very highly at many sources and from time to time HF has it on sale for $89 which is the lowest price I've seen anyplace, plus the 20% coupon and I have been tempted to buy one, except for the one more thing in the garage and it could explode issue.

This is NOT a fast tool like a pressure washer, this is a take your time and make it pristine type tool. You don't get much hotter until you get into the $500+ steamers, the Ladybug or whatever.

One of the guys I know has a commercial unit that runs on kerosene for the heater. Works better than a regular pressure washer, but not all that much without the additives/detergents etc. IMHO. On the other side of the coin, the guy who owns it, loves it.

It would be like using a dental pick, but it would remove cosmoline no problem. Steam and wipe.

Repeat 10,000 times. Renting a big steam cleaner for a day would do what you want in an hour.
