Is the metallic residue on the magnet typical?

I used to boil m/cycle chains in oil long before O-ring chains became the norm.
The smell remains with me to this day after +30yrs..............I'll go buy the pump.

I was thinking about ways to heat the diff fluid since I plan on the job in a couple weeks. The double boiler method came to mind. I'm a little afraid of trying the microwave.
I was going to try the "Set in the Florida sun on a piece of Aluminum Foil for an hour " Method. Do you think it will suffice? Or not hot enough?
I'll be using Brad Penn 75w90 Hypoid and I have a quart hand pump.
