It has been a fantastic couple days up here in Northern Vt....Took my 928 out for a spin up through the Champlain Islands and Stowe Area....I was surprised that out of 24 911 or carrera Drivers only 2 responded to my wave...the rest just looked and kept driving. I got waves from corvettes, muscle cars drivers and Motorcyclists.......What with our 911 bretheren???
Made me start to rethink my PCA membership which is coming up soon....
And no the driving was not stop and go or dangerous so one could not return the wave... Ok I vented, now it's time for a frosty pint
Happy Holidays to ALL!!!
Sometimes hard to see a wave for a wave and by the time it registered with the other driver, they already passed by. BTDT myself.
Most Porsche owners in the old days would use a flash of their lights for a more noticeable thumbs up.
But as Karl pointed out, most Porsche drivers now don't wave or flash to each other anymore. Heck, there are so many Porsches around our town nowadays, you would be doing a lot of waving/flashing.
I think the issue comes down to, as Constatine alluded to, non-exclusivity of present day 911 owners. It has little to do with being snobby they probably just don't understand why you are waving at them. Akin to a Buick owner waving to a Pontiac owner, one would not think "Oh, there's another GM owner". It just would not register.
i have a 911... older one and i wave... like the light flash better. also have to keep in mind your 928 is rarer then any 911. it drives better too. when i get my 928 going i will continue to wave. difficult decision on which one i will drive for fun, but planning to tURN THE 928 INTO THE DAILY DRIVER......
AGREE LATER MODEL 911 DRIVERS ARE ******... us early drivers have far more fun cars to drive. the later ones drive themselves... plus the later guys are having to figure out how to pay for insurance and up-keep
Well this sheds the light better on why.....I hadn't thought of a quick blip of the lights, just don't want some guy I'm behind thinkin I'm being impatient and want to get by....guess it's not just Vermont..
