Lorelei and I are already planning on following Rixter's lead by heading into town earlier in the week. Maybe Tuesday-ish.

Hell, at that point might as well leave Saturday

David and Jeannie, Thanks for a great weekend, Ryan and I had a blast, maybe next year we'll bring 2 cars.Five days before SITM with my eng sitting on the stand it didn't look too good for us. After a little wiring issue and a small problem with my afterburner the car did fine by Thursday eve and away we went on Friday. There is one person that I must thank BIG TIME! Greg Nettles, without Gregs help, encouragement, knowlege, tools, parts and equipment I would still be sitting in the middle of my hangar twiddling my thumbs. Its a good thing Greg dosen't yell much but I did have him shaking his head a few times. Thanks Greg ! We can't wait till next year. Paul Hunt

Default Thank You 9289 Specialists!

Dave and Jeannie, thanks for the great weekend. I love the idea of making it LONGER!!!

Playing around with a panoramic option on my camera, i was able to stitch together 4 pics taken from atop the Beech Mtn sign.

Default My Turn....

Have to say a big thanks to Dave and Jeannie for putting this all together.
My first time, and although the Detroit crew weren't gentle, it was great meeting everyone that there was time to, and putting some faces and personalities to the Rennlist personas.
Excellent trip, 2053 miles total, and my son had a blast.
Looking forward to next year.
In this case, longer may indeed be better!!!
All the Best,
Rob.

Rob. It was a total blast having you and your son along with us. You fit right in! Maybe next time Steve won't bring the rev lmiter along and you guys will keep up... of course... maybe it wasn't a rev limiter problem as much as a stones problem.

Yeah, I've been in those shoes. It's not easy to keep up with those guys when they get up to speed. But it sure is fun to try

Thumbs up

We got home yesterday afternoon, a huge thanks again to Dave and Jeannie and all the great folks that we met!
We missed some folks we wanted to meet, we need more shirts like Fraggle's!!

The GT ran perfectly, and did 5910 miles, the route we took is here (google maps): http://tinyurl.com/24anycg).

Here's our route:

The highlights driving-wise were Thursday's drive from Alcoa to Banner Elk with Andrew and the gang (Thanks again for some great route-planning).
Lots of interstates of course but on the way back we jumped off I-25 at Fort Collins and took US-287 north and west through northern Colorado, across Wyoming and through Yellowstone, lots of nice roads and very little traffic-- except for Yellowstone of course.
Then a night in Winthrop WA and across the North Cascades highway yesterday (SR-20), one of our favorites (after Cherohala, now).

Here's some pix from the trip home:

US-287 in Wyoming, not much traffic:

Yellowstone was beautiful this time of year (but getting busy):

And of course, watch for animals. (I don't think this guy would lay down and allow himself to be run over)...

Climbing towards Washington Pass on North Cascades/SR-20:

Looking back down the road we just came up:

More SR-20/North Cascades. Lots of bicycles on the weekend but on a Friday AM it was just us, one motorcycle and a few cars and RV's:

And Ferry Porsche again!! The great thing about being buried in the middle lane between the semi's is being first-off, so that they can move the trucks!

Nice- now there's a car being used true to its purpose!

I suppose using the photo of ao likeness getting some tongue as an avatar would be the wrong call......

And by next year I may have a suspension & rubber to make it a little easier!

Great to meet you both (Jim and Sue)... Really enjoyed our chat and your thoughts regarding my new car... You were both thoughtful, supportive and very encouraging.

Glad you made it home safely and that your GT performed so well throughout the trip!
