The WSM says not to tighten the rear lower control arm bolts until springs have settled. However, I don’t see this mentioned in any of the write-ups on motor mount replacement. How important is this?
PS – This is on the 86.5
Thanks

It's standard procedure for any car with rubber bushings (which is most).
We had a discussion on this exact topic back in 2006:

Dwayne mentions this in his MM write up. Believe he leave 1/8" gap in the carrier and allows for a short short drive to settle the springs then tighten back up to 88 ft/lbs. Same for the sway bar mounts - snug until the suspension is settled and then tighten to 33 ft/lbs and 62 ft lbs. at the drop links. Trick is of course to have ramps and not (re)lift the car of course.

I leave the car on the stands and then lift the end of the lower control arm with a jack until the body lifts off the stand on that corner. Super smart? Don't seem like it but I've got clear access to the bolts.

I have been going through this settling process on Leeroy. It takes quite a bit of time when you are concerned about driving around with loose bolts.
