Looking to buy a set of 85-95 front seats in black - preferably sport seats.

Any ideas?

Sport seats in good condition are very hard to find. I searched far and wide before I found a nice pair. They pop up here occasionally, although I found mine on Craigslist.

As Paul references above, he can turn just about any stock seat into a work of art. He can even take a pair of regular "comfort" seats and turn them into "sport" seats with the addition of the proper framework brackets. This allows you to have the additional power features most commonly found on the comfort variety, while enjoying the additional support of the sport variety. I've seen his work in person and can attest it is exceptional, IMO.

Paul-
Do you realize that it is just wrong to make something so beautiful that so many people are going to put their butt on?

Can't you at least put a tiny little flaw in them so we can just say, well, there is a flaw here so it's okay to sit on this one.

Here is a variation on the same theme, for fans of the traditional piping. I added bolster highlights, for a nice modern touch. Subtle differences, but that's what makes these cars so special:

I don't want to hijack the thread, but since this is still in the spirit of the original post:

I charge $450.00 for the conversion performed on your cores. That includes:

- stripping the old cores to the frames
- welding new supports
- new high-tech, multi density, sculpted foam bolsters

Frames end up identical to factory sport seats. But the foams are technologically much more advanced than the molded arrangement from 30 years ago.

Many on this board can attest to the support and comfort of my new sport bolsters.

Now, since we are starting with a comfort seat, it means that the sub-frame still has all the power functions intact. So you can have an 8 or 12 way sport seat, which was not available from the factory.

Or we can start with a manual comfort seat from a 944 or 911, and end up with a true sport seat.

I even have some latitude in how wide or tight the seat will be. I can play with the density of the bolsters. I can even add memory foam to those bolster highlights and end up with a seat that will grab you and hold you.

Lots of choices, and that's only for the structural side. There is the whole style and design side also

Thanks Paul,
Great information and to think I was going to look for sport seats. I like the idea of you working your magic better. I know one of these days my seats and dash will be heading your way.

If you search for a long time you will not find really good condition 928 sport seats out there. You may find 911 or 944 sport seats in good shape.

Question

A set of 944/911 sport seats would work - if I could find a pair.

I would prefer 928 seats ... Paul C, do you have a set of Black sport seats available.

I found these 4-way power sport seats earlier this year on Craigslist in South Carolina, for sale by a fellow Rennlister. The passenger side was nearly new with no re-conditioning necessary. The driver's outside bolster had some wear but only required minor re-coloring to produce the result pictured. So, it is possible, but I must admit I got lucky.

That said, it would be much easier to find a cosmetically rough pair with a good frame and functional power/controls from a dismantler, then send them to Paul. Particularly so if you do the comfort-to-sport conversion, as comfort seats are relatively plentiful.

Those tan sports seats with the diamond stitching are my favorites of all of Paul's creations that I've seen. They make me wish my interior was tan rather than black just so I could buy exactly those seats!
