Default What kind of oil do you use?

My last oil change was Castrol Syntec 5W-40. Heinrich advised me that it was not the best choice, and that it may have contributed to high engine temps during hot weather.

As a newbie I would love to know what other 928 owners are using for oil? Synthetic/non-synthetic?

I use what Heinrich uses. Never had a problem with his advice.

Only thing I know is that the Penn oil hasn't changed formulation, and provides adequate ZDDP. And it's used by a lot of older cars with higher performance engines. Good enough for me.
I read all the oil stuff too and by the time I had realized that I had read too much............

Also, holds good pressure on those 36 degree days on the highway in stop and go , and, I can still fire the motor in the dead of winter.

Some use 5w-40 without issues. Others like myself had pressure issues including big time lifter ticking at idle.
So........most use Xw-50.
I've used Mobile 1, Royal Purple, Vr1, Castrol.... this year will either be Redline or Brad Penn.

I use 5-40 Mobil 1 I think. Get's super cold here. 20-50 barely turned over at -5 F.

Cannola, although some swear by extra virgin olive.

Actually Mobil 1 15-50.

And it still has adequate ZDDP.

Can't find Brad Penn locally, so I guess Mobil 1 is a good 2nd choice? It's what the PO used, so I'll stick to that until The Rebuild.
