Guess it is a bit like Porsche and Porscher that some people seem to call it?

Sometimes I call it a Nine Twenty Eight and sometimes a Nine Two Eight. Just like sometimes it's a Porsche and sometimes it's a Porsh-ah. I have never made a habbit of either.

I mostly call her "Faulein"

At my house there is only one so it is called "The Porsche" with the "e" pronounced as "uh".
The local PCA enthusiast of whom are picky about the pronunciation of the "e" always refer to the models in the 9 Eleven fashion as 9 Fourteen, 9 Twenty Eight, 9 Forty Four, 9 Sixty Four, 9 Ninety Six, etc., ad nauseam.

For me nine twenty-eight seems most natural although I think I sometimes say or think in terms of nine two eight. My preference is the first and I guess that is because I go back farther than most of you. I started with three fifty-six, then got used to nine eleven, then nine twelve then nine fourteen then nine twenty-four, nine forty-four, nine sixty-eight, nine sixty-four and now nine twenty-eight. Now, I don't mean that I have owned all of those, I just got used to saying them because of my interest which started with owning more than one three fifty-six. Then there is a couple of engine numbers that I was familiar with--six ninety-two and five eighty-seven.

That's my two cents worth, if that.

I don't have time at the moment but I bet a YouTube search for the original tv commercials / marketing campaigns would reveal regional pronunciations. IIRC the British ads said nine-two-eight. I would think the Al Hobart commercial would have the American pronunciation?

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...nty-eight.html

This thread is from 2004. I thought more would say it nine two eight because it sounds better but looks like the great majority say nine twenty eight.

I always thought nine two eight would be proper because it should be either nine hundred and twenty eight or just nine two eight mixing it up nine twenty eight probably is not grammatically correct in any language.
