I used 3M Plastic Emblem & Trim Adhesive. You can buy it at autozone, napa, carquest for under $5. It will bond to vinyl, plastic, and metal..... resistant to water, heat, fuel. On the down side it takes 24hrs to bond.

It's used commonly in manufacturing to provide for a potting media for electronics and for a myriad of other uses.

FWIW the pins on the rear of the badge are soldered on so a hot soldering iron will remove them, no grinding needed

if I sifted the replies correctly:

3M adhesive 2
RTV adhesive 4
JB weld 2
metal epxoy 1

so many options. I think I'll try the RTV.
