I have been in contact with Damon quite a bit about tires. The tires he liked the best were the Bridgestone RE760 Sport. These tires also have a #1 ranking on Tire Rack. He also did not have anything negative to say about the HRZIII or the Hankooks, but from his emails it sounded like the B'stones were his fav. These were the 3 tires I was looking at since the BFG KDW2s have an awful noise rating and feedback.

Here is the last email I got from him...
"LOVE the 760! Great wet grip, stays quiet - well rounded performance tire and VERY much worth it. Of the others I still like the Sumitomos the best. The Hankooks just don't perform all that well in the rain.

His comment about the Hankooks in rain is a little odd since the Dan has seen teams using them as rain tires for racing.

I'm running the Bridgestone RE760. Overall a decent street tire at a decent price.

That is strange Damon would say that. For whaterver reasons there were several teams running the Hankook Ventus V12 evos as their rain tires (and some as their general track tires) at the Lemons race a few weeks ago.

Thanks, I think I will go with the all seasons, as I intend to drive the car in everything but snow and salt Seems like the summer tires don't like the cold much.

Default Kumo Tires

I have the Kumo Ecsta ASX on my 86.5. I like them but the sidewalls are a little too soft for aggressive driving. Also I didn't reallize that they are not directional so they look different side to side (My Bad). The ride is softer than most of you might like, but I like it that way (OLD GUY SYNDROM). I am thinking about replacing them only beause of the directional/appearance stand point. You know, "If it dosn't look right it aint rightd". But that's just me. Oh buy the way, they were cheap $115/tire mounted and balanced.

Thanks, I ordered the Kumhos earlier today.

I don't mind a softer ride in this car, I have one street/track car that is harsh enough (not to mention the track/race car that is much harsher). I am probably eligible for the old guy pass too

Lettuce know how the All-Seasons do, Grandpa.

I don't know why but the high performance summer tires aren't so grippy when the road's wet and only about 50 deg.
Glad I don't have the summer tires on yet as it was barely above freezing this morning.

Wonder how the all-seasons handle with around 35 pounds of air in them.

Grandpa multiple times thank you, 2 running around, and more on the way

Thinking I will drive the car from perhaps March to November, weather dependent, that means many cold days and more cold mornings and evenings, the all seasons seem like the right ticket,

Wet performance is important to me, in a street car, and cold wet weather sounds like it could challenge the performance summer tires.

Ask my car about cold wet metal expansion joint on corner exit of I-95 onramp.
Hey. The back end of the car wants to do some leading too . . .

I'm going to look into the vredestein ultrac sessanta tires. Folks with them seem to love them, good bang for the buck.

If a business it trying to build a new customer base the brand name probably shouldn't include "Kook".

Got a set of Fusion ZR1s last year after a similar tire thread that recommended them and have been very impressed given the low cost.

Good to see there are a few good price sensitive options out there.
