I get my stuff from Roger at 928sRUS and don't look at price anywhere else. To each his own. Custom stuff doesn't count obviously.

JB,
My price for the same parts was $253.20.
I do not know what overnight shipping was.
Out of San Francisco it could have been lower than $20.
Allways worth a quote from 928sRus.
Thanks for the kind words.
Roger

I wouldn't trust Parts-Geek. U are going to get the cheapest OEM part, and something like an ignition switch could be of dubious quality.

On the other hand, I like the ability to call Roger, or look up the part # on Pelican, where you are going to get a known quality part.

The advantage of someone like Roger (Again, another shameless plug to my favorite parts vendor), is their active participation in our community and their 928 specific knowledge. Between the Forum and the active vendors you can fix ANYTHING and have peace of mind knowing you will be getting EVERYTHING you need.

Good luck finding better support with a dealership or mechanic. I love the internet and the way it allows all of us to share this knowledge. 15 years ago things were a whole lot different.. Like Russia on sunday...

I've bought parts from Partsgeek.com before. I received eveything as described, and delivery was fast. The price there enticed me too, but I have since come to my senses. Since then I have not ordered another part from them. I've found that 928sRus, and 928 International, have great or very competitive prices, and they SPECIALIZE in the 928. It's better to help keep these dedicated shark guys in business. Price difference is neglegible...

When you buy from a dedicated 928 vendor, you don't just get parts, you get expertise that will tell you if you need a different part for your model, other parts to complete the install, or maybe something else entirely to check first.

You won't get that from Partsgeek, or Autozone, or even a dealer. Support our vendors.

No shame to it, Roger is a site sponsor -which is a pretty good little hit on a small business these days.

True and I with ya, but Autozone is local and those boys are my neighbors. I try to spend a little of my very small budget locally - if I can. (I know, its a country-boy thing)...Bruce

FWIW, I started this thread... I think it was my first post here. Now I get most of my parts from Roger (928sRus) or from Mark and Co (928Intl).

Between the two, there's very little I haven't been able to find, plus good quality parts, expert service, fast shipping, and good prices (often the best prices).

Roger is that for Bilstien Heavy duty front and rear shocks? The "comfort" oem Bilstien's are a cheaper shock at $46 on PG. The Steering Damper was also Bilstien not a cheap OEM brand.

The overnight shipping normally would not be required but I needed them for this weekend.

"Roger is a site sponsor -which is a pretty good little hit on a small business these days."

Not only that his prices are great and it is now easier to order on his website so my next 928 parts order will be with Roger.

I've ordered from partsgeek and got everything as described. I guess that's good, but there's no communication from them. All sales are final so be sure you order the right part. They'd be my last resort personally. I've dealt with the vendors listed and supported here and it's been nothing but re-assuring.
Partsgeek certainly feels like a crapshoot with the hands off approach.
cheers,
Bil

That's two big negatives. Being able to talk to someone w/a working knowledge of a shark is worth the markup.

What is interesting is that WE (the vendors - Pelican, 928 Int, 928 Specialists, Partsgeek and the rest) all buy from the three main wholesalers of European parts.
Prices charged are down to the % required to cover overheads (operating expense) and profit.
Purchasing price from the wholesalers is defined from the quantities you buy coupled with good negotiating skills and attention to detail.
In some cases you can go around the wholesalers and deal direct with the manufacturer. I have done this with Gates and Laso. To do this you must be buying a lot of product.

Then it is all down to price versus customer service, support, delivery, quality, shipping costs and advice.

Personally I will pay a little more knowing that I will get the right product, the right quality and when I want it with as little hassle as possible.

As a service to my 928 customers I also supply parts for other cars that they own – European, Asian and domestic.

News to me, I'll be in touch to see if you can order me some rather unique VW parts.
