I found a good coupon in the back of Car and Driver selling vehicle "dollies" for $29.99 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=67338

FYI... they won't make the car go any faster on the road - only in the garage.

Funny you mention it, I have a pocket full of Harbor Freight coupons. Free Flashlight, free tape measurer, and a metal polish buffing kit for today.

I know it won’t anything go faster, but it will be nice and shiny.

Great link to stay abreast of the latest HF deals:

Attached are some coupons set up to print 4 per page. Just keep in mind the 20% works on 'sale' items but can not be stacked upon another coupon.

Be careful with those dollies. I got a set of four from my parents a couple years ago for Christmas. The ones I have came with crap bearings in the castors. Once you get a car on top of them there is lots of kicking shoving to get the car to actually go where you want. The versions that cost $500 from Griots are very badass though.

Anybody used the jack that often has a coupon? I think they call if a 3000 lbs aluminum "racing" jack.

It was pretty inexpensive and was thinking of replacing my crap craftsman unit without breaking the bank.

Thanks for the warning, I will inquire if they offer extended warranty on the dollies.

Going downhill you'll think you are driving an older Cadillac though

I have two of them and like them for what they cost. Not the best build quality, but they work and are very light weight. The seals tend to fail after a couple years and they begin to leak fuid. They don't seem to come down, but rather won't go up any further. Might be becasue I keep them in the cold garage during the winter. Dunno. Lasts about 3 years.

I got one of the jacks also. It has limited extended height and is not the best made, but it will generally work in a pinch. You get what you pay for IMHO.

I have both the light weight $50 low profile racing jack and a 3.5 ton craftsman. They both work fine. The Sears is about 7 years old and the HF about 1.

I do like the low profile for getting under the Porken bars, but it doesn't like picking up 1/2 a shark.

Following is a good link on the topic as well as a photo for reference.

Be prepared to use a hammer. I have these dollies and they work, but you need to have a hammer to tap the casters into the direction you want the car to go. If you plan to move the car a lot, go with better. If you only plan to move the car a few times, they're fine.

As a bonus, I found they gave me just enough clearance under the car to do oil changes and accessory belt changes.

Yea, I have one...it is not a GREAT jack, but it works well for my needs...jacking up 928's! It is light and mine has been up and down many times and is still working fine. It is just not a smooth highly finished well built piece...though as I said it LOOKS GREAT!

HF pass fail thread

Mixed reviews on the wheel dollies, maybe a supplier changed etc. Its the sort of thing you need to test right away to be sure its ok, and return if it isn't. Upgrading all the casters wouldn't be all that expensive either.

I'll report tonight on the dollies. I am not expecting any miracles. Pushing/manouvering any car on 4 wheel dollies can not be an easy task unless each wheel is about 8". We are still talking about moving 3500 lbs on 16 small wheels (2.5"???).
