Did you read my previous post? I have daily driven 928's for 10 years and 100k miles. With maintenance up to date, a 928 is a very reliable daily driver and is not expensive at all to keep running well if you do your own work.

And BTW, a timing belt/water pump job on a 928 is really pretty easy.

Ha ha ha... Found out one of my doctors owns and drives a 928, has since is was new and still really likes it. A few days after my first colonoscopy and was at my mom and pop Porsche garage picking up the 944 Turbo I owned at the time. In walks the doctor that had just done the procedure. I commented, "I wondered how you guys knew how much money I had to spend on my car!"

The revolving door keeps going around and around and...

Kinda like when you were a kid and kept sneaking peeks at that high school cheerleader. Just have to have another look.

Rob the most crucial part of 928 ownership is buying the right car. it means doing your due diligence with visual and mechanical inspections. A long standing maintenance history with regular intervals for fluids etc are just as critical. You'll end up paying a bit more up front but the overall ownership experience will be far better and you'll be able to control the maintenance costs on a year basis. Essentially you can plan a specific task each year and either tackle it yourself or pay Sean or someone similar to do it for you.

I also genuinely think that the price of 928's has bottomed out and if you maintain the car both cosmetically and mechanically you can sell for a similar price as purchased. This loss can then be factored out of the ownership cost.

I'm not up to speed on Corvette costs so I can't really offer a comparison.

That is even better! No longer having 6 pushing in the rear, the upgrade to 8 in the rear ... take it like a San Francisco Man baby!

For the guy with the Suit analogy, I want the Italian (or German) suit but my point is that I cannot afford to wear it or spill something on it. That is exactly what is meant by being "taken to the cleaners". This clientele is special and fortunate.

For the guys that just call me names I can picture you driving an early eighties camaro with a sticker in your windshield that says "HOT"
And it for this same group of people that I offer this 928 picture and link:

What is the weight difference between a flat 6 and a LT-1?

And how far further back is the center of mass of the 6 vs the V-8.
And how much higher is the center of mass of the V-8 in the 911.

But, it is a Chevy V8 and should power all cars on the planet! 928s, 944s/951s, 914s, BMWs, Jaguars, Nissans/Datsuns, Fords, and whatever else we can cram it into. Who cars about factory original and unique engines or overhead cams for that matter. **** on those higher-revving fancy sissy boy low-displacement unreliable junk import motors! Chevy V8, American Muscle to make cars right! Cheap! Nuff said.
