Duc's Alpine ixa-w404 double DIN radio install
So after debating what radio to get i got a sweet deal from a local craigslist guy on this Alpine double din head unit. so now i have to install it
Here is a picture of what i had to work with......
when the console was cut for the cage, i slid the radio in and checked for clearance. Loots like i had to remove some of the stock sound mat junk. i also ended up denting the tunnel a little bit for some added wiggle room
Once i had the cage figured out i had to secure it to the console sides. turns out the cage has little metal tongs that you can bend out to secure it. well i really did not have much in the way to use on the console as a secure point, so i cut up some aluminum stock and used the tongs to wedge them nice and tight. that cage does not move at all......
So after the wiring was figured out. i buttoned it up and tried it out...
now i just have to build some kind of trim ring for the console.... but i will do that after i get her done in leather. I plan on making a little panel to add the wideband 02 and fuel Pressure gauges under the radio later. short shifter from roger should help too. but with stock shifter i have no problems with the controls.

i have yet to re make the center "cover trim". im going to send out the center console here in a week or so to get the leather treatment, same with the dash. but on the up side. it works like a champ!
