Mine are chromed and look great (I think). I am thinking about going with a more modern wheel design though...

Mine are polished manhole covers that have been machined to look like club sports.

I don't think polished wheels are common in the UK
and I can't find any wheel refinishers that can do it.
Powder coating is the common finish.
I really like the polished look and I have a set od D90
that need refinishing.
Can polishing be done on a DIY basis and if so what
method and materials are used.
Finally, do the polished wheels dull down/ corrode
quickly or is some protective coating applied.
