Default First time out in my 928, question?

Just got it running after T belt and head job. Got car for nothing last year.

This thing handles and runs like a bear, Over 100 MPH in a very short distance, but it rides really rough, is this how they ride?

25 year old shocks and springs could be a problem.

That depends. Were you on a road at the time?

Assuming halfway decent pavement the ride should be "firm" but not "rough". Of course it all depends on your personal calibration.

So more info is needed: Are the springs and shocks stock? Has it been sitting for a long time? What sort of tires? Correct pressure?

And what were the last couple of cars that you drove?

With springs and shocks in good condition, they generally don't ride "rough." Replaced the shocks on mine last summer (with the stock Boges) and it made a big difference.

My guess is the your tires are old and flat spotted. Get some miles on them and get them warmed up and it'll get better. The 928 is a cruiser and should be smooth on the highway. Tires have the biggest impact on ride quality.

A nice set of Bilsteins will improve your ride dramatically and get some motormounts. Talk to Roger, he'll get you fixed up.

New tires, shocks, springs, motor mounts, rack bushings and check wheels for straightness. Anything that is over 20 years old or has been sitting for a long time (regardless of miles on the vehicle itself) could be a contributor to the rough ride you are experiencing.

Jim also has a good point... the ride is rough as compared with what other cars?
