When I lost my AC last summer the front expansion valve was covered with oil so I assume that's where the leak is. But I want to pressurize with nitrogen to make sure there are no other leaks in the system. I have a new expansion valve and dryer ready to go in. The compressor is a Porsche rebuilt, but as far as I know everything else is original.

I really don't want to just change parts and re-charge without checking everything else.

Now that is just cold blooded... Bill? Ole? Really?

Can't help with the hose, but I got everything else in my garage. The felt wick from the main seal is a tattle tale to let you know about a leak there. Just depends on when the dye was introduced and how much is showing... a little bit or completely saturated? Mine had a slow leak at the main seal, but it would hold a charge for a whole season before I finally had it rebuilt.

Always a fun time with the DFW crowd, so I'll just bring it up and we'll see what we can find.

There's a shop in Lewisville on Business 121 east of 35E that builds industrial hoses and fittings. I've used them for power steering lines and worked great, and was pretty cheap. Not sure if they're open on Saturday, though.

Was in Houston, just got back in town. Missed the GTG. Mine is sitting on stands. Think Roger has my parts just have not been in town to pick them up.

Brad let me know if you guys are working tomorrow, will get by for a few hours and help if I can.

John let me know when you do your shocks, will help you. Need to do mine at some point.

What a day, 8 hours behind the wheel of one of the finest cars every built, and 5 hours hanging out with the DFW group and working on these cars. I'm amazed how fast 4 hours goes buy in a 928. Perfect temp, sunroof open, tunes cranked, maybe I'll be back up tomorrow....

We didn't get my AC going, but it was great to find the leak (low side hose to compressor) and get the hose off for rebuilding or replacement. I like that nitrogen method for finding leaks.

I think I know where to find a vacuum pump and set of gauges in Houston now, so should be able to get it going soon.

Thanks guys for the advice, pizza, nitrogen, parts, tools, simple green and taxi service.

Don,
That was a bummer not being able to fix your AC but at least we did find the leak. (It ended up being one of the hoses at the compressor) Won't need to part out the car

Blandis, I think they are back over at BradW's today and Sean is at Rogers last I heard

Jason, we'll just see you when we see you.

It was a great gathering, as usual. Plenty of options for the day, one of our local Boxster owners came by to let us know about ECR having a charity session at noon, only one went though. Good turn out at Brads and when Don gets that one hose fixed, he will have an entire new system. Sorry we couldn't get it finished.

I'm back home now after working in the streaking rain all day.

You don't HAVE to bring a 928 just to come visit. A couple of guys at this one brought lesser Porsche's and we didn't even point and laugh too much!
