Jim,
I can't do it this weekend but I promise to take care of you before it hit's triple digits!!!!

Jim and Mike,
Sorry to butt in, but if there's ever a DFW A/C party, I'd gladly make the drive north to participate. I need to replace a compresor hose and recharge with R12 BEFORE Houston heat. I'm sure that will only lead to another leak, but what the heck, it's only money....

Jim,
My big vacuum pump (for car A/C) is already at Brad's. I can bring my gauges and Mike's nitrogen is already there also (if you have a leak). Just let me know if I need to bring my gauges.
Don, it's going to be hot before you know it. Better come on.

I will be driving the lawn mower and bringing a buddy who is looking to dip his toe in the shark tank after dreaming for many years.

Sean, the last thing I did to the A/C was replace all the seals and the rear expansion valve and had it recharged with R12 again. It lasted a month or two but lost the R12 again. It cooled off, and I wanted to let my bank account recover, so I haven't messed with it since, accept to look for leaks.
At some point dye was added to the system, and with a black light I can see lots of dye around one of the hoses coming from the compressor. There is also a slight splattering of dye around the rear exp valve, but I think it's left over from the previous leak is isn't currently a problem (hopefully).
The compressor is a recent rebuild, put on less than a year ago, but there is a small peice of felt hanging down from between the pully and the body of the compressor and it has dye on it. Not sure if that's a concern or not. It might have picked up dye from the nearby hose leak.
The Dryer was replaced by you when the front exp valve was replaced, I'm thinking it's still ok.
After 3 recharge cycles, the big unknown for me is how much oil is left in the system.
Might try to make it up tomorrow....

Sean, We can charge Don's system with N to find his leak so it can be fixed...BUT...

I'm sorry, but I could not in all good conscience let you work on a car with a piece of dyed felt hanging down. We might just have to part the car out.

Ok John, very funny, let me explain.... what I meant was, don't know if the compressor has a leak in that spot where the felt is hanging down. Not quite ready to part it out, but if we do, I'll need a ride back to Houston.
And thanks for offering to help on this, I think I'll be there tomorrow.

Got the final clearance from the SO, so I'm headed up first thing in the morning. I'll go straight to Brad's and should be there around 11.
Roger, I'll send you a note about parts.
