blood cancer - dog
This is OT but before it gets sent to 'over there' I know many of you 928 owners also have a dog or 2 and perhaps someone out there has vet training.
Our 10yo malamutte cross has just been diagnosed w/blood cancer . He has lost a tremendous amount of weight and barely eats anything. We've tried all sorts of dog and human foods but he turns his nose up at everything. He was eating liver for the past week but he's gone off that tonight.
I will do the right thing when it comes time but meanwhile if theres any suggestions as to what we could try is much appreciated.

Just try to make him comfortable, spend as much time with your friend as you can.
I feel your pain and I wish there was something I could do.
(I really think that even though things like this are OT, they should stay in the 928 group, this is where your friends are)

So sorry to hear of this Malcolm. I wish I could share some positive news on this but I lost a dog to Blood cancer. Really was not much I or the vets could do for him. His time after he stopped eating was a couple of days. I put him down, he let me know when it was time. One of the most memorable moments of my life.
You, your friend and family are in my thoughts.

Malcolm,
Sorry to hear. This really is the one down side to owning pets other than some turtles or parrots that wil outlive you.
I've have good results with prednisone. Doesn't cure anything but it's a corticosteriod that makes them more comforable and stimulates the appetite.
Check with your vet to see if it might help here.
Best,
Rob.

Sorry for your sad news Malcolm. Dogs are like angels I always say.... I hope your angel is comfortable and I wish you peace....from someone who loves dogs as much as you.

Just give him all the love you can brother. I lost the best friend I've ever had just this past Sept. I don't envy you the last trip to the vet. Try rice with chicken broth. If he can eat it, I bet he will.

I am sorry to here this. It is no different than losing a member of the family as we all know they are. A true gift. Always coming from a place of love. I always tell people that Bella, my dog, is the best behaved member of the family. She is, hands down.
They will always be with you and your memories!

Best wishes Malcolm, As others have said, just make him comfortable and happy. Sorry to hear about this.
Get him a big bag of bacon and cook it up.

Sorry to hear that. I don't have dogs but I do have saltwater fish. My wife and I bought a clownfish on our first date, 10 years ago. You wouldn't think you'd get attached to them but you sure do. I understand how sad you must feel. Be like finding my fish on the floor some morning but at least you'll get a chance to say goodbye before they "jump out of the tank."
