Default WTB: 1 rim for a 1991 S4

Getting tires today found one of my rims bent on the inside, tire still holds air but it needs to be replaced.

Anybody have just 1 rim for sale? I can't recall the name of the series but they are the standard rims for the 1991 S4 car as you can see in my pic.

Thanks!

Looks like you have stock D90 wheels. Which particular wheel is bent? (the fronts are different than the rears)

BTW, I don't have any for sale.

Sorry, it's the rear wheel needs to be replaced. I checked 928 International and didn't see any there.

BTW, where can I get that black scoop that is under your bumper? Mine is missing and I wondered what went there! Looks cool!

If no one here has any for sale, check www.wheelenhancement.com

The black trim is the front spoiler. 928 International should be able to hook you up with a good used one.

The rim will be able to be fixed, find a rim repair shop locally.

Mmmmm I'm no expert but it's bent pretty badly, they weren't even sure the tire would seal. The old tire sidewall had a groove in it from being run flat, I think it was hit pretty hard.

I think I'll get a straight rim and not try and find a place that tries to fix them when you can't be sure if it can even be repaired but thanks for the suggestion. The tire shop mentioned only 1 place they know of that would even attempt such a repair as well.

When straightened they are without any problems.

The people who do this do it all day long. There is not a problem.

Plus with you saying a new tire, or dismounted tire was able to seal to the rim, tells me that it was not very badly damaged at all!

Sorry to hear about the bent rim. I bent two on my passenger side some time ago, and recently hit a huge pot hole with my Saab, which also destroyed rim and tire. Not fun! But who would expect potholes THAT big on city streets?

This front spoiler connects to a two-piece belly pan that

a. improves the car's aerodynamics
b. keeps debris out of the engine compartment
c. Cools the motor mounts with its built-in ducts
d. offers a wee bit of extra protection for the mechanics in there
e. is a pain when you only want to do a simple oil change

The spoiler itself helps direct the air into the radiator, and to the front brakes. It is a bit low, so be careful when pulling-up to high curbs. That's probably where the last one was destroyed.

Found that spoiler on 928 Intl and it's listed for $549.00!! Holy man I know this car can be pricey but geez us.

Found the rim on the Wheel Enhancement site, I'll give them a call tomorrow, thx Jwise.

Lizard I get what you are saying but now every time I drive I think I'll have a flat when I come back out so i am just going to go with an undamaged rim.

Add another rough $300 by the time you have a new front belly pan, and a used rear belly pan... Hope you got a good deal on this 928.

I don't have belly pans on my S4. Greg from Precision said it wasn't a problem. Just one less thing to take off when you have to work on it. I believe were his words.

I'd be giving Mark a call - just because he doesn't have the rim on the web sight doesn't mean there aren't a few in the back. It changes daily.

Colin is right - spend a little getting the rim fixed - and put what you save toward that spoiler!

Repairing the wheel CAN be good, but it also CAN be bad. A new wheel is safer. If You purchase a used wheel it may have been repaired - how would You tell ?

Do not let the price of the spoiler turn You down. You may get it cheaper, but You should absolutely get it. It has an impact on engine temp, and thereby engine wear. The same goes for the belly pan. The engine runs a few degrees warmer without it.

Even if you change to another wheel don't through bent one away. If it is original RDK sensor version sensors can be saved from it. Though they are less useful 3.0 bar variant.
