Default Help: Thermostat housing bolt

Got a warm winter day in Ontario today (+5 degrees) and decided to start putting stuff back together. Got the new TB, covers and PS done). Went to replace the thermostat and o-ring but the lower bolt came out with aluminium in the threads. I know, very bad indeed. The upper bolt was ok. This is my first thermostat change since ownership.

How can I rebuild the lower threads. Please and thanks. HK.

Helicoil! I fixed my M8 alternator bolts. Kit comes with correct drill bit, inserts and instructions. About $40 US.

use anti seize on the attach bolts and use new bolts to attach the outlet .
Make sure to replace the rear thermostat seal if you have one, and the front sealing O ring

I have a great fix for you. find a bolt that is about 5-10 longer and it will find the deeper threads . I had my T-stat come apart on the way to a race. it stripped itself out. probably was on the verge or damaged after a water pump job. a longer bolt in my tool box at a gas station saved the day, and the next few seasons. ( I forgot if I have checked it since.) In otherwords, it works.
