Remove most of the roof and rivet in place a large alum panel.....max weight savings may be attained this way...see K Manns 944 racer.

Thanks Marc,

I had flash backs of using the nibbler in your shop 10 years ago!!
This time, I got (or will get) all the stuff out of it. Even if i use a piece of aluminum for the sunroof area as a cover, that would save a few lbs.

Finished. Well, with the cutting. I left 5 tabs to bolt a sunroof piece in place, probably from the non sunroof roof, so it will be light. Ill make a tab on it and slide it into a bracket rearward, and the sides and front will be bolted.

as predicted, the entire sunroof frame work was 3lbs, total. (plus the mechanism panel of 5lbs and the sunroof itself that is 14lbs)

So, total 8lbs difference with gutting out the sunroof stuff vs a non sunroof top.

now, on to the cage work.

Mk

Hi Mark,

I've had a look at the mold that I used... it needs a couple of small repairs, but shouldn't be a problem...
I can try and get another part made next week... I don't have any kevlar left, so it will be just 3-4 layers of CF, so around 1-1.2mm thick...

I'm not sure if you are in a hurry for a part?
But if you would like one, just let me know... I guess it could be with you in around 2-3 weeks...

If you are to use it in your race car, consider it a donation to the 928 racing cause...
