Default maf sealing ring ??

today while in search of perfection i noticed if i push down on air cleaner housing the hiss from maf area goes away.
looked up parts on pet guide and found the sealing ring part 99970169940
but the part i was not expecting to see was another sealing ring part 99970118350
on a 85 euro should there be a sealing ring on the lip of the maf ?????
or just the ring that goes inside intake ?????

Two rings I think, at least on the 85 USA MAF.

Roger taught me this last month.

The big heavy one on the inside bore of the TB. The maf goes into it.

The thin big one is on the outside bore of the MAF to help seal it.

My Throttle body rubber mounts were bad and the air cleaner rubber mounts were bad. The air cleaner would hit the firewall and that kept the maf crooked in the Throttle body. Combined with not having the thin oring ... air leaks.

The inner one gets flattened. I've replace these on every car that we've dragged home. On one, I wrapped the AFM with duct tape where it fit into the big oring (early car) to compensate while I waited for the big oring.

The thin one seems a bit secondary in capability, but is an edge for the maf to rest on so it might help.
