What goes on the dipstick where it goes into the block?
And please if someone can tell me what this plug is? I found it in the valley when cleaning block. Sorry for the blur, closeups are hard.

Fred what is the diameter of that plug?? It doesnt look familiar
For the dipstick there are 2 versions early one is screwed into the block (We are talking about the dipstick tube)
The later version is a push fit sealed with an O ring

Fred-

If you don't have it already, you can get the official '83-86 parts catalog here:

http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessori...artscatalogue/

The dipstick stuff is on pages 36 and 37. Not sure which dipstick tube your particular engine has, if you're not sure you'll have to check your engine # and refer to the table in the parts catalog linked above.

That cap looks suspiciously like the one that goes on the top of the intake and covers the top of the flappy shaft....... clearer picture would really help though.
