Default S/C Pipe reduction ?

Just got the car back from painting the front clip, bumper is off and now is the time to do this.
I want to install a fixed pipe instead of the dryer hose now in place. This is on a Murf kit the intake air box to the S/C is 3" OD the pipe that will work is 2 1/2 OD. This will make for a much cleaner install but I'm worried about air flow reduction, any one have feedback. I know it's only a half inch so no wise cracks!

Install a 3" "Y" piece into the neck of the intake piece, then reduce to the 2 1/2" with one solid tube running to each fender and use 2 filters. (one of each side) Then you will not have any loss, acutally a gain in flow.

Humm interesting, I wanted the option of using the Maf as a puller I have an extension harness and used it before as a puller. The car ran spot on set up like this, but I lost 2 Lbs of boost. I believed it could have been due to restrictions or the odd angle of the hose. Although your setup sounds promising.

Actually on my set up I ran two 3" ducts from the "Y" adding the additional K&N to match the one that came with the stage III kit.

According to Tim's experience I could be adding another 30 to 40 hp. with the additional air flow.

Do you have a link for Jetex or an equivalent option. I have not found anyone producing theses Y's.

This is the link to a UK site http://www.jetex.co.uk/website/jetex...haustparts.php

But i'm sure a good exhaust shop should be able to make you one cheaply also have you tried summit racing ?

Seems they call it a T-pipe, appreciate your help, I will start searching.
Summit has one but not at the correct angle.

Looking at the air box the Maf will fit into the box directly. I am wondering if the reduction from 4" Maf to 3" at the air box would allow for a smooth air flow with out turbulence. The reason I am moving the location is that I have a slight surging with the Maf in it's stock location. I have added a 4" 90 Elbow to the intake and it did make a big difference but not as much as when I tested it as a puller. I would like to address this before I put my car back together, and any feedback on my thoughts would be helpful.

Does your car have ABS? If not, you could use a standard Vortech inlet like mine, attach a silicone junction between it and the MAF, and run a tube to the driver side fender. If you don't have ABS, there is an empty hole where you could put and inlet pipe and mount the air filter in the fender well. It does require relocation of the PS reservoir though.

Abs so not an option, sometimes these things cause a lot of head scratching.

I found this on E-Bay:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true
Thanks for the info!
But back to my initial request if I was to use the Maf as a puller will the reduction in TB size cause a air flow reduction? I did loose boost the last time I did this but before I go out and purchase the correct hardware I would like to know.
