I'll never see it again. It's one of those things I don't get too worked up about anymore. Yes I would like it back, but if not I'll just get another one, and Seans rates will go up slightly to cover the cost of the asshat that has kept mine. I hope my o-scope won't disappear.

I had a older medical tool, I think it was called a "Endoscope", very expensive at the time, not near the tool this one from Snap-On is.
It was only about 400 bucks.
I use it a lot, has a video out so you can record.
For you guys that lend tools, I also lend tools, this is the first place I have not required a deposit that will cover the price of the tool.
Once again, hope you get it back, but I doubt it, I know you will find out who took it though.

Been looking at those Greg, since I can't seem to get my dad to loan his to me across state lines.

Greg, that's the kind I was thinking about. The Sony I have has a 2 meter long probe that's a little shy of 1/2" diameter at 11.5mm. 4-Way articulation and all means it can be 'steered' quite a bit as you push it in. Car projects need nothing that elaborate, and the smaller bundle will pass into a spark plug hole a lot more easily; The probe head on the Sony barely fits in a standard 14mm plug hole. As an endoscope, it would be able to look at the backs of your eyballs if you pushed hard enough. [gasp!]
What kind of [proprietary?] battery does the Snap-On unit take? Even the lithium batteries get tired after a while and need replacement.

Meanwhile, back in borescope searchland, do we have a clue where Doc's is? I found out where mine is, and it's done two more inspections while I wasn't looking for it. Cha-Ching!
I may still get one of those little hand-held H-F units for a peek inside James' '85 Euro. It can't be much worse than my Sony, can it? :\

As another option, here is a link to a boroscope I just purchased (lent out already)
http://www.kmstools.com/mtp-boroscope-5706 (western Canada) or
http://www.a1parts.com/tequipment/sp...ed_testers.htm (eastern Canada)
Sorry - the distributor is Canadian - however I expect this should be easy to get down south.
The unit takes four AA batteries and has a one metre flexible line from the color screen to the camera. The camera is 14 mm (just over1/2 inch) diameter so it should easily go into spark plug holes. There are two LEDs at the camera with controls at the screen to change the LED brightness.
Sorry - I have not had it yet to try out. Just thought I would share given what appears to be some interest here on boroscopes. It runs about $160 US (list price).
Cheers

Amazon.com has had the Makita (I think) brand on sale a couple time for $90 shipped. I am holding off waiting for newer and better, smaller camera head etc.

As others have suggested I don't want to believe there is anything "evil" going on here.
Either someone has it who is temporarily incommunicado, not on the list etc. and doesn't realise it's mia. Or it's hiding on someones workbench behind a box of parts tools etc left there by somebody else. I know I could readily loose something like that in my garage especially if it had returned there by someone else and I wasn't 100% aware that they had done so.
I'll send Rhonda over - she can always find stuff that I can't find that I've probably accused her of moving (normally turns out it was where I left it and she hadn't touched it.)

God, just reading this post makes me want to buy one. I can think of tons of places to use it on the car and at home. "I wonder what it looks like in here . . . I wonder what it looks like in there . . Hmmm, what does the back of the dishwasher look like, never mind I installed it, what does it look like now?"

Here is a reportedly unused Snap-On borescope on CL for $300: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tls/1564237840.html
