We keep the steers up here and send the queers to Austin.

I sent out a mass e-mail to the DFW group about this missing tool and got no body owning up to it.

I won't be loaning out any more tools. It gets old being the nice guys.

Sorry John, missed your call. I'd have played along but just in a mood the past 2 days. This too will shall pass.

Why would someone want to keep it when they could borrow it from you when they needed it? It doesn't make sense.
Now they can never use it around anyone because everyone knows they stole it.
Why would you steal? I don't get it.

Somebody probably actually borrowed it who doesn't frequent the list. I'm sure when the borrowing party finds out we've been looking for it, they will bring it back. For real. All I know is that I really have not seen it.

This is an interesting-enough tool that it isn't just casually borrowed.

That said, I need to make a couple calls to find out where mine is now. I loaned it to some folks from Colorado for an inspection in New Mexico. Now I need it for an inspection in the driveway. It will hurt me to just look into 8 plug holes with a flashlight. It's only about $20k to replace with new. What the heck?

I rent mine generally, don't actually 'loan' it to anybody without a serious deposit. Anything that's "free" tends to be treated like it's worth nothing.

Doc, I hope yours comes home soon.

Since Carl has alleged that I copied Todd's idea for the water pump repair...I might as well confess to this, also.

Well, there you go. The case is closed. The professional guy with the shop full of tools and loans out a water pump repair tool for the good of the group stole it. Just like we all thought.
Now, why doesn't everyone who knows someone with a shark as them if they have the scope. It will turn up pretty quick. A call or in person visit is better than a PM.
I'll start with Ben here in Dubuque. I'll call him and PM him
Ben, PM sent.

Bob, I really wasn't thinking that somebody borrowed it without permission. I was thinking more on the lines that somebody actually borrowed it and has just "forgotten" to bring it back in a timely manner, instead choosing to bring it back on his/her own timetable. I'm hoping that the person in question just really doesn't know that it is now needed and being looked for. I can hope, can't I?

Well heck, I still believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, too.

Come to think of it Greg. I left a stroker motor out there too. I'll just drive back 2000 miles so you can "drop" it right in.
Mighty big of you to do that for me.

Meanwhile, back in borescope searchland, do we have a clue where Doc's is? I found out where mine is, and it's done two more inspections while I wasn't looking for it. Cha-Ching!

I may still get one of those little hand-held H-F units for a peek inside James' '85 Euro. It can't be much worse than my Sony, can it? :\
