I would install the correct coil so you dont wind up burning out another part of the ignition system.
just because it works doesnt mean its the best part to use.
These kinds of modifications dont usually manifest till your far away from home, and a tow will usually cost way more than the correct part will, you have been warned

If you feel you have to "chevy" it, do the Delco alternator conversion. But stop there.
