That's correct. However, try the O2 sensor first. It's definitely the cheaper route as I did it ***-backwards and had an already functioning LH rebuilt.

OK Matt, just ordered the sensor from Amazon. It'll be here tomorrow Saturday delivery.

OK, dumb question but I have to ask it. Do you have to drop the catalytic converter to swap out the O2 sensor on this car? It is VERY tight in there...

Yes. If you had an X-pipe, you wouldn't have to touch the exhaust pretty much.

I got fed up with dropping the cats with everything I had to do under the car so I did an X-pipe that gives me easier access to the O2 sensor and front bell housing for flexplate tension releases. Saves me 15-30 minutes time down there now

Remember you don't have to take the completely off. Just lower it enough to break it loose and remove. When you bolt everything up, make sure the rear pipes of the cat are still clamped and tight.

The new sensor is in. Doublechecked everything and took it for a little ride, about 30 miles. Ran fine, idles better than it has in weeks. No rough, smooth and sits at 630-650rpms.
If the computer is indeed defective how many driving cycles will it take for that to rear its ugly head? I put about 50 miles a day on this car so if its bad I would think it would show up pretty quick.

Sounds like you are cured. Congratulations are in order as your LH has already adapted. Now give it an Italian tune up and get a beer!

Andy, but I see on your thread your LH was just a bit slow in learning. Let's hope you got yours fixed and mine is fixed. In both cases, for the long term!

Yea slow as in the Forrest Gump of Bosch components. I still have that unnerving feeling that it will be back. In the mean time I won't be disconnecting my battery anytime soon again. The more I drive it, the more it will learn.
